Geotextile is a permeable geosynthetic material made of synthetic fibers through needle punching or weaving. It has the characteristics of high strength, corrosion resistance, good permeability, and convenient construction, and is widely used in the engineering field.
The main functions of geotextile include reinforcement, protection, drainage, filtration and isolation. In water conservancy projects, it can be used for the reinforcement and protection of embankments, revetments, dams and other projects to prevent water scouring and erosion; in highway projects, it can improve the bearing capacity of soil, prevent cracks and settlement of pavement, and play a filtering and isolation role to protect the drainage system; in environmental engineering, it can be used for anti-seepage and isolation in landfills, sewage treatment plants and other places to prevent the infiltration and diffusion of pollutants; in construction projects, it can be used for foundation treatment, basement waterproofing and wall protection to improve the overall safety and durability of buildings.
The manufacturing process of geotextile is diverse, mainly including weaving, needle punching and sewing. These processes can produce geotextile products with different performance and characteristics according to different needs and uses. At the same time, geotextiles can also be used in combination with other geotechnical materials such as geomembranes, geogrids, etc. to form composite geotechnical materials to better meet engineering needs.
